Based at the Mount Pleasant Complex, you’ll be expected to work collaboratively with the BFBS team and our military customer to ensure that BFBS’s Radio, TV and Cinema services remain available at all times. We also provided contracted support for the Met Office, Falkland Islands Government radio and TV transmission in Stanley, Falklands Radio and the MiPlayer streaming and VOD system hosted by the local Telecom’s company so there’s plenty of variety.
We want someone who will ensure the availability of all services 24/7 via a programme of effective incident response, proactive routine maintenance tasks and a collaborative approach to Continual Service Improvement. Your duties will include the first line support of all fixed and mobile infrastructure, plant and technical equipment at transmitter sites, studio complexes and our digital cinemas. The primary role of this position, however, is to liaise with radio programme staff regarding their support needs and maintain a support, maintenance and technical training programme for studios, Playout, CTA and other systems required to support radio’s function. Your manager will be the primary point of contact for maintaining relationships with all our customer stakeholders, but we’re looking for someone who is able to step up and support this role when necessary.
You’ll be a highly organised person, methodical in performing your duties, with an ability to effectively manage your time, potentially with multiple conflicting requirements. You’ll take pride in your attention to detail and will self-develop a highly detailed level of understanding for the systems you are supporting. You’ll also need to be someone with good social skills and with a robustly positive outlook, who’s approach to life contributes positively to their own wellbeing.
The ideal candidate would have knowledge and experience of some aspects of the role and be prepared to learn about the others.
