Job Description

JOB TITLE: Bid Writer
LOCATION: Home based, but occasional travel to Kingston upon Thames required
START DATE: ASAP
DURATION: 6 months
PAY RATE: £300 - £400 per day
IR35 STATUS: Inside

Full time role (5 days per week), but could consider part time if required.

REASON FOR POST:

Response to COVID-19

Kingston Voluntary Action is looking for a highly skilled bid writer to support the voluntary sector in Kingston as it faces unprecedented change and challenges following the response to COVID-19. We are looking for a talented bid writer to support the VCS in making grants and applications to funding bodies.

You will have a successful track record in securing funding and have some experience of the voluntary sector.

Priorities:

To engage with voluntary organisations to understand their work, their offer and their needs
To work with voluntary organisations to write funding applications and bids, collaborating with teams to draft, edit and proofread bids and supporting material
To horizon scan regularly for funding opportunities for the voluntary sector, primarily from trusts and public bodies, but with potential to also source funds from individual giving strands and relationships with corporate funders.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Excellent written/verbal communication skills - ability to write concisely, creatively and persuasively to engage audiences and tell a compelling story
Good attention to detail
Excellent successful track record of bid writing
Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage relationships with a range of donors and stakeholders
Access to a phone and IT at home
An understanding of funding models for the voluntary sector
An understanding of the role of civil society groups and the impact of their work
Ability to develop project proposals for different target groups
Self-motivated, with ability to manage own time efficiently in order to meet tight deadlines
Strong administration skills, with ability to record and share activity undertaken
Excellent organisation skills, with ability to manage various projects at once
Have high levels of numeracy and confidence in working with budgets and financial information where necessary
