The Thames Tideway Tunnel project comprises a wastewater storage and transfer tunnel between the clients existing operational sites at Acton storm tanks and Abbey Mills pumping station.

The alignment will allow the capture of existing combined sewage flows from 34 'unsatisfactory' CSOs that currently discharge into the Thames.

The flows will be stored in the main tunnel system during times of extreme flow and subsequently transferred to Beckton sewage treatment works for treatment via the Lee Tunnel which is currently under construction.

What is the purpose of this role?

We are looking for an 'assistant' instrumentation and monitoring engineer to work with the lead I&M engineer in providing technical support to meet its obligation under the Asset Protection Agreement.

Act as assistant technical contact for enquiries from Tideway and the main works contractors in relation to their I&M proposals and ongoing monitoring of assets.

What does this role involve?

The key activities for the position:

Review proposals including response trigger levels (damage assessment review carried out by others).

Ensure that I&M scope of works are delivered and commissioned.

In conjunction with the lead I&M engineer act as I&M technical contact for enquiries from Tideway and their contractors in relation to their proposals.

Assist in reviewing real-time data via access to their individual databases.

Ensure data is distributed to the wider business as agreed with the lead engineer.

Review emergency response plans (ERP).

Attendance at progress meetings as required.

Assist with implementation of processes and procedures fpr data review distribution and data capture.

Assist lead engineer with QA checks.

What skills are we looking for?

This role requires and organised individual who is keen to develop their skills and learn more about major infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level (Land Surveying/Civil Engineering) with a strong interest in project delivery. The ideal candidate shall also have experience working with I&M data and databases. Have strong interpersonal and communications kills and the ability to work within a team environment. Experience using Microsoft packages will be essential.


This role is based at London Bridge and we are offering £320 per day.
