Apprenticeships Level 3 Applied Science 2021 Job Type(s): Level 3 Apprenticeship Location(s): England: Farnborough, Fort Halstead, Shoeburyness Salary: Competitive + benefits + bonus incentives Start date: September 2021 Job description: Our L3 Apprentice roles will be based in the Weapons Science and Human Performance Groups as part of the Applied Science Discipline. Our Applied Science capabilities cover materials and chemistry, electromagnetics & acoustics as well as the Weapons and Human Performance activities. You be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a range of critical Customer projects and our work encompasses world-leading research (exploring the art of the possible') to comprehensive evaluation and testing of systems and components - as well as supporting the training of Service personnel. A key part of your work will involve working in laboratories and facilities which are often unique in the work undertaken and safe-working in these areas is paramount. Sites & roles: Site : Farnborough The Applied Science teams at Farnborough are involved in a range of activities - which as well as human performance include materials research and the understanding and use of electromagnetic technologies. This role will involve providing technical input to projects that are looking at how we protect service personnel in extreme environments - from flying supersonic aircraft in all conditions to working in submarines. Site : Fort Halstead/ Shoeburyness Our teams at Fort Halstead and Shoeburyness are primarily involved in the evaluation and testing of weapon systems and energetic materials in order to ensure that systems are both safe and perform to the highest levels. Our work is unusual, but, absolutely critical to saving lives and protecting our sovereign nation. You will be working with a number of science and engineering teams, all with a common interest and passion for their technical areas and in supporting our Customers. You will also be joining at an exciting time with significant investment underway on both sites and new facilities. Required: Achieved or on track to achieve: a minimum of Grade 4 (C) in GCSE Maths & English or equivalent *Entry grade requirements may vary due to course provider requirements* A demonstrable interest in science and/or engineering coupled with a diligent and methodical approach to tacking tasks.
