his is a unique opportunity to manage six small licenced airfields used for the operation of the internal air service in the Orkney Islands, which includes the world’s shortest scheduled flight between the islands of Westray and Papa Westray. You will be based in Kirkwall, the historic capital situated on the Mainland of Orkney, but the post will involve frequent travel to the island airfields which are located on the picturesque northern islands.
The duties include ensuring the airfields meet Civil Aviation Authority category 1 licencing requirements, together with the management and training of the 60 or so casual airfield staff on the islands.
You will be educated to at least SVQ Level 3 or equivalent SCQF level 7 qualification in a subject relevant to enable entrance to training programmes required by CAA and NATS in order to demonstrate competency.
You are also required to have sufficient relevant experience to be assessed by the CAA and NATS as competent in terms of CAP 700-Operational Safety Competences; A UK Code of Practiceand of CAP 699, Standards for the Competence of Rescue and Firefighting Services (RFFS) Personnel Employed at United Kingdom Licensed Aerodrome
