Job Description

We are looking for an Actuarial Analyst ideally with some Reserving experience, to join a leading Personal Lines insurer, offerring a fantastic, warm, welcoming and dynamic culture. Recruitment and on-boarding for this role is continuing during COVID-19, both remotely.


This role will be involved in all aspects of Reserving, including;

Undertaking internal reviews across the Motor and Home portfolios to produce a best estimate
Producing Solvency II Technical Provisions
Reporting results to internal parties including Reserve and Audit Committees and producing formal Actuarial reports
Carrying out data manipulation using SQL to help investigate emerging trends and explain drivers of results
Developing processes and methodology to improve the efficiency, accuracy and communication of results
Enhancing Management Information reporting in the context of the Actuarial Function whilst considering wider business use of such information
Building effective relationships with other teams to bring actuarial insight to the forefront of business decision making with the aim of demonstrably improving business performance.
Supporting other areas of the Finance function with business planning and forecasting.
Assisting the Risk function, in particular concerning the quantification of risk through Solvency II Standard Formula.
Ensuring appropriate governance frameworks and processes are adhered to and enhanced.


Good degree (first or upper second) or equivalent with substantial mathematical/statistical content.
Student Actuary with experience within general insurance reserving, ideally with Retail UK Motor and Home business experience.
Good progress with exams with Core Principle exams completed or close to completion.
Experience of ResQ and SQL beneficial but not compulsory.
Strong Excel model building skills including VBA coding.
Experience and knowledge of Solvency II requirements of the Actuarial Function, in particular technical provisions.
The candidate must be well organised and have a logical approach to problem solving, with attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
