Biorbyt Ltd have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join their team.

Location: Cambridge (Covid-19restriction require remote working from home)

Salary: £18,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full time

Accounts Assistant - About Biorbyt:

Biorbyt Ltd is a fast moving, dynamic entrepreneurial and international Biotech company based in Cambridge, UK that is involved in the production, distribution, and marketing of Life Science reagents for research institutions. Our main customers are major research organisations around the globe, and we have offices in the UK, the US and China. Our product range has expanded to over 300,000 products that are sold through our online portal.

Accounts Assistant - The Role:

Under to the supervision of the Financial Controller, to work with the management accountant to ensure bookkeeping is completed and in a good order. In addition, you need to be willing to contribute to the smoother running of the Company. We are willing to train you up if you are a fast learner, a good problem solver and a proactive thinker.

Accounts Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Support

- Bookkeeping: Using Quickbooks (order and PO entry, stock management, expenses, etc)

- Bank reconciliation: reconciliation of funds received against Customer accounts and payments applied correctly against Supplier accounts

- Purchase ledger: Ensure all bills are entered timely and accurately in Quickbooks by the reporting period

- Sales ledger: Verify all sales invoices are recorded timely and accurately in Quickbooks by the reporting period. 

- Payment Runs: Make sure suppliers are paid on time and send remittance advice

- Credit Control: Chasing outstanding invoices and sending reminders to customers

- HMRC submissions: Preparing and filing VAT returns timely and accurately

- Month End: Support Management Accountant in the preparation of the monthly financial reports for Financial Controller to review

- Year End: Support Management Accountant and Financial Controller in the preparation of the yearly company financial reports

- Prepare KPI reports to monitor the performance of the business

General Office Support

- Ad hoc support to COO and MD

- Answering telephone and dealing with enquiries

- Manage the ordering of office supplies for staff (Stationery, tea/coffee)

Accounts Assistant - You:

- Degree level at least

- Qualified AAT/ACCA or studying towards an accounting qualification is desirable but not essential

- Accounts preparations experience

- Month- end process

- QuickBooks or equivalent accounting package

- Excel (basic skills plus V-look ups and Pivot Tables)

- Word, Power point and Outlook

- Self-starter

- Highly motivated

- Good communications skills

- Ability to prioritise

- “CAN DO” attitude for working within a small dynamic entrepreneurial biotech company 

- Experience of working in an office-based environment
