We're currently looking for a number of Accountants to join us within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business are, however you can be officially based from our Bristol or Plymouth locations, with hybrid working on offer

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

The difference our new Accountants will make

As an Accountant you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be working within our nuclear sector business which includes submarines, submarine support, infrastructure, corporate services and specialist transformation and strategic development.

Day to day, you'll report the actual and forecast costs for a group of centres or projects and produce relevant variance analysis and insight as well as understand the recovery process for the group of centres or projects and provide relevant analysis to under and over recovery against the contracts and how costs fit within the contractual framework. You'll prepare and analyse order book, framework and pipeline analysis ensuring that these reconcile with contractual cover and report both the cash received and the forecast cash for the group of centres or projects. You'll manage any contract changes to feed forecasts, order intake, estimate at completion updates and also understand the technical aspects of revenue recognition.

Essential experience
Qualified Accountant (Part qualified accountants will be considered if actively studying for a qualification with clear track record of training achievement)
IFRS 15 long term contract knowledge
Detailed knowledge of financial systems
Strong Excel and data analysis skills
Strong people skills and working in a collaborative environment
You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
