Job Description

A 3rd Line Network Engineer is highly sought after by the NHS Wales to give up their time to support the rapid delivery of a range of digital communication services for its staff.

The current Coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a rapid deployment of a range of Digital / IT services into the organisation.  While much has already been achieved, ongoing progress is limited due to capacity within the team in respect of network and server configuration skills.  Additional resources are required, to work alongside current members of staff to provide increased capacity through this period, in order to continue to accelerate deployment of new digital services for staff.

Specific scope will be confirmed based on the skills / experience of the available staff; however the 3rd Line Network Engineer can support us with the following:

Deployment of ‘AttendAnywhere’ clinician/patient video consultation software;
Deployment of ‘ConsultantConnect’ clinical communications software;
Rapid deployment of Office 365 suite of products – e.g. Teams, OneDrive, InTune;
Deployment of CITRIX technology to enable remote (off-site) working.
Delivery of functional enhancements to existing clinical systems.
The 3rd Line Network Engineer working arrangements;

The role will be predominantly based at the Velindre Cancer Centre (VCC) (Whitchurch, Cardiff).  However, location / base will be dependent on the specific project(s) staff are involved with and may require a degree of movement between the VCC and Welsh Blood Service site in Talbot Green.
VUNHST will fund and supply any equipment necessary to perform this role.  Workers would only be permitted to reclaim reasonable expenses e.g. mileage for travel between Trust sites, if a requirement of the role while undertaking this role.
It is not anticipated that the role will require the individual to work in a high-risk area.  However, if there is a requirement to undertake work in a designated COVID-19 area, appropriate PPE clothing will be provided as required.
It is anticipated that the majority of work will be completed on-site.  However, with the agreement of both parties, occasional remote (off-site) working may be supported.
