Online retail giant Amazon is to hold a Military Insight Day for current and former military personnel interested in careers within the organisation. The event will take place on March 10 at the company’s Hemel Hempstead Fulfilment Centre. As well as a chance to find out about various roles, particularly those in operational leadership, the day will incorporate a CV-writing workshop and provide the opportunity to network with recruiters and operational managers from a number of different departments, including fulfilment, Amazon Logistics, PrimeNow, engineering and IT.

Jobs for ex-military within the Amazon organization are typically, though not exclusively, located within Operations. These could include roles in one of nine regional UK Fulfilment Centres, the Amazon Logistics delivery network or in PrimeNow, which provides a one-hour delivery service in a number of UK cities.

Some of the main operational roles and the corresponding military experience or rank typically required include:

  • Area Manager - Typically former OF 2s (Lt RN / Capt. / Flt Lts)
  • Operations Manager - Typically former OF3s (Lt Cdr / Maj / Sqn Ldrs) and often MBA qualified
  • Senior Operations Manager - Typically former OF4s (Cdr / Lt Col / Wing Cdrs) and normally with an MBA or Masters level qualification
  • Engineering Service Technician/Senior Engineering Service Technician - candidates with a good technical background, who are proficient in dealing with a wide range of systems and have the versatility to quickly learn new ones
  • IT Service Technician/Senior IT Service Technician – Candidates with strong IT skills. An understanding of large networks would be advantageous, as would knowledge of Cisco, Linux and Windows

You can find out more about all these roles and more at the Insight Day, but places for the event are limited. Click here to apply or for more information.
